(My intention is not to hurt any one's sentiment. I am only writing for knowledge and information purposes. If there will be any mistake done by me, please correct me. I love and respect all religions.) Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is also known as KHATNA , KHAFZ OR KHAFD. The cutting or mutilation or altering of female genitals are known as FGM.
COUNTRY Senegal, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malli, Guinea - Bissau, Kenya, Middle East and North Africa.
FGM - A GLOBAL CONCERNS
FGM is practiced in India as well as in some other countries also.
The age of the girl should be between 5 to 7 years when FGM is performed. But in some cases adult females have also undergone this process. It is practiced in some Islamic groups. The reasons vary from groups to groups. Countries like United Kingdom, USA, Australia and 27 other African countries has already banned FGM. It is practiced is society so a female can't make sexual relations with other.( people should change their mind on this, because " A shield of the women is her character itself ").
TYPES OF FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION
1 . Type 1
In this type the clitoris (clitoral hood) which is the sensitive part of the female genital is partially or totally removed from the body. Clitoris is the most sensitive part which helps in feeling sexual pleasure of the female.
2 . Type 2
This is the partial or total removal of the clitoral gland and the labia minora ( labia minora is the inner fold of the vulva) , with or without removal of the labia majora ( labia majora is the outer folds of the skin vulva).
3 . Type 3
This method is also called Infibulation. Narrowing the vaginal opening through the creation of a covering seal. This seal is formed by cutting and repositioning the labia minora, or labia majora through stitching with or without removal of the clitoral prepuce or clitoral hood or clitoral glans.
4 . Type 4
This type includes all other harmful procedures to the female genitalia. Example-Piercing, Incision, Cauterizing, pricking and Scraping the genital area.
IS THERE ANY HEALTH BENEFITS BY FGM? |
FGM only harms the women. It is removed in the name of " HARAAM KI BOTI" Or "SOURCE OF SIN" OR " IMMORAL LUMP OF FLESH " for non-medical reasons.
Various types of complications occurs to the female body by FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION such as:-
1 . Infections
2 . Excessive bleeding
3 . Vaginal infections, example - white discharge, Itching, bacterial Vaginosis etc.
4 . Injury to other genital area, because it is not done by trained doctor, but instead it is done by old Ladies.
5 . Loss of sexual pleasure
6 . Depression
7 . Shock
8 . Some times death and hemorrhage by excessive bleeding
9 . Menstrual problem or painful menstrual because of the narrowing of the vaginal area by sealing which leads to difficulty in passing menstrual blood .
10 . Painful urination because of urinary tract infections.
11 . FGM increases pregnancy risk. Many complications may occur. The baby may die in many cases because of sealed vaginas.
12 . Females will not be interested in sexual life . ( Also a reason for polygamy in male, because women almost became a sex toy)
13 . Sometimes deinfibulation is done for child birth.
14 . Severe pain
15 . Swelling of genital tissues.
16 . Painful sexual intercourse.
17 . Sometimes difficulties in babies deliver, by opening the vagina's sealing. The female undergoes repeated opening and closing process which leads to post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, pain and depression. 18 . Sometimes FGM may leads to Sepsis.
SOME WHO DATA ON FGM ( data taken from WHO) 1 .
More than 230 million girls and women alive today have undergone FGM.
2 . FGM is the violations of human rights of girls and women.
3 . FGM is carried out in young girls between infancy and aged 5.
4 . Almost in 30 countries FGM practiced. Example- Middle East, Asia, Africa etc

WHO RESPONSE ON FGM (data taken from WHO):-
1 . WHO supports a holistic health sector response to FGM prevention and care, by developing guidance and resources for health workers to prevent FGM and manage it's complications and by supporting countries to adapt and implement these resources to local contexts.
2 . WHO has developed a global strategy against FGM with partner organizations and continues to support countries in its implementations.
3 . In 2008 , the World Health Assembly passed resolution, on the elimination of FGM, emphasizing the need for concerted action in all sectors. Example - Education, Health, Finance, Justice and women's affairs.
FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION IN INDIA
1 . FGM is practiced in India also by some Islamic groups. In this process the remove the female clitoral hood. Clitoral is present in mammals and ostrich etc. The clitoral hood, clitoris plays important role in sexual stimulation, sexual arousal or sexual pleasure because it's tissues forms part of the erogenous Zones.
2 . A religious leader of Dawoodi Bohra community has written a letter to honourable Prime minister Narendra Modi for ban of FGM. In this letter , Syedna Taher Fakhruddin wrote
" I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my position and unequivocally condemn the practice of FGM. I also call on the government to introduce legislation to ban the practice and make FGM illegal ".FGM is practiced by Dawoodi Bohra community ( Shia muslims).
3 . In 2018 Dr. Megha Reddy a gynaecologist reported the consequences of FGM, such as, complications in deliveries, urinary tract infections, sepsis etc.
4 . Gynaecologist an Obstetrician Dr. Sujaat vali has also reported that only a specialist is able to seperate and cut the clitoral hood without cutting the clitoris. (Because it is cut but untrained ladies who injure the clitoris). According to Dr. Vali , 30 % of the female feel discomfort and irritation while walking, urinating, menstrual.
5 . Practice of FGM in society reflects deep rooted inequality and extreme female discrimination for females. ( especially for sexual pleasure and feelings).
SUPREME COURT OF INDIA RESPONSE ON FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION
1 . The FGM practice violates the various fundamental rights of the girl child.
2 . The Supreme Court has express ed their concerns over the practice of FGM prevalent in Dawoodi Bohra community, by saying that it violates privacy of the women in the name of religion.
3 . The FGM practice violates the Article 21 of the Indian Constitution ( Right to privacy and liberty) .
4 . It is also a type of female sex abuse ( my personal opinion.
