Making the animals unable to reproduce is known as castration. In other words we can say that it is a Defamation.     

  Or, 

Removal of testes in the animals is called castration.             

  Or,

 Castration is the process in which an individual loses the use of testes. In animals the term word changes as :- spaying or Neutering.

 METHODS OF CASTRATION

1 Burdizzo method:-In this method the spermatic cords are crushed or pressed to stop the blood supply into the testes. It is also called bloodless castration. The age of the animals should be :- less than one year. 

2 . Open or surgical method:-In this, the test is removed from the scrotum through cut and antiseptic is applied on the wound. This method is done in the animals without any anaesthesia. It is also a complicated process. Age should be :- within 3 months . 

3 . Rubber ring or Elastrator :-This is a painful activity done in the animals. In this process a strong and tight rubber ring is placed around the spermatic cords at an early age of the calf. After some time blood flow will stop in the testes and within 2 to 3 weeks the testes will fall automatically. This should be done at an early age  (below 3 months) of the animals. 

4 . CHEMICAL CASTRATION:- As name indicates this, process done by inducing chemicals in the body. Example :-

1 . HISTRELIN

2 . TRIPTORELIN

3 . GOSERELIN  ( USED IN THE TREATMENT OF PROSTATE CANCER. IT SUPPRESSES THE TESTOSTERONE LEVEL). 

 4 . LEUPROLIDE( It can be reversible in some cases, if castration has not done for a long time) .

ADVANTAGES OF ANIMAL CASTRATION

1 . The animals become non violent. Means they become docile. 

2 . Easy to handle. 

3 . To prevent certain genital diseases. 

4 . To control indiscriminate breeding. 

5 . Faster body growth. 

6 . Increase in weight. 

7 . Meat quality will improve.

8 . Increase the working hour of animals. Example : ox , horses , Buffaloes, etc

 9 . This process is done in dogs. They fight for place and area. It will also be helpful in controlling the population of street dogs. Dog bites cases will also reduce. 

10 . The life of an animal  pet increases up to 3 to 5 years. 

CASTRATION IN HUMANS OR BENEFITS :-

1. The process is also done in humans. 

2. Human castration was practiced in Sumerian time as a cruel punishment or torture. 

3. During the Byzantine Empire, it was also considered as cruel punishment.

 4. In Italy it was carried out to maintain the soft voice of the male.

 5. Other examples are:- Arabian countries, Greek, Roman, Ottoman Empire etc. 

6. In history male human castration was done to become the best singer. 

SIDE EFFECTS OF CASTRATION  IN HUMAN:-

1 . Reduce sexual desire. 

2 . Sterility 

3 . High pitched voice

4 . Increase in weight and leads to obesity

5 . Anaemia

6 . Epilepsy

7. Lessened creativity

8 . Narcolepsy

 9 . Brain lesions.

10 . Depression

11 . Loss of muscle mass

12 . Thinning of the bones or osteoporosis.

 13 . Hot flashes. Means redness on the upper part of the body, or may burning sensation. 

14. Since testes are removed, the feminine characters start appearing. Example :- Enlargement of breast size. (Called Gynaecomastia in biology). 

15. Hypothalamus and pituitary  disorder.

16 . Memory loss. 

17. Unable to become a father. (If I have written anything wrong ,please correct me. My intention is not to hurt anyone.  In my opinion, this practice is a curse given to either animals or humans. Castrating animals only denotes human cruelty towards animals except in some extreme cases. For our greed we are depriving their sexual rights and pleasure, which Lord has provided them. And it comes in the category of sin.) 

CASTRATION  AS A PUNISHMENT:-

It isa very cruel punishment. And it can only be given to the rapists. A person who rapes should be castrated. This practice was used as a treatment in medical science. Example:- If a person suffers from severe prostate cancer, it can be applied in this case. 

WHY CASTRATION IS NOT USED AS CONTRACEPTIVE PURPOSES  ?

CASTRATION  V/S VASECTOMY

1. It is the removal of testes. 

 2 . Sperms and hormones do not produce. 

3 . Loss of masculinity

4 . Done in animals

5 . It is an irreversible process.

 6. It is permanent

 VASECTOMY

1 . Cutting and tie of  vasa Deferentia. 

2 . Sperms and hormones produce. 

3 . Sexuality remains as it is. 

4 . Done in human male

5 . It is a reversible process. 

6 . It is temporary. Means if a person wants to become a father , he can be. 

Injection

Can a castrated male have sexual drive? 

The sexual drive is negligible in that person. But still the penises are present in the body. So, he can have a sexual drive. These persons use TRIMIX through injection. And the erection will take up to 15 to 20 minutes. But the sexual drive may last up to one hour. But it is very harmful. These medicines are not available in India but in the USA it is available.
